
Mapusa, Goa – The Mapusa Indoor Stadium in Goa recently played host to the highly successful IRSF National Rope Skipping Championship 2023-24 from 1st to 3rd December 2024, a dynamic event that showcased the talent and athleticism of Rope Skipping athletes from across the nation. Organized by Amateur Rope skipping Association Goa under the aegis of Indian Rope Skipping Federation (IRSF) , the championship drew enthusiastic participation from over 400 players representing 11 states.
The event was inaugurated by the Honourable Union Minister of Renewable Energy, Sh. Shripad Yeso Naik, marking a significant moment for the sport of Rope Skipping in India. The inauguration ceremony was also graced by the presence of several other distinguished dignitaries, highlighting the growing recognition and support for this fast-paced and engaging sport.
IRSF National Rope Skipping Championship
Mrs. Varsha Bawa (President, IRSF) presided over the event, lending her support and encouragement to the participating athletes. Mrs. Kirti Sawaikar, Secretary of the Amateur Rope skipping Association Goa, delivered the Vote of Thanks, expressing gratitude to all those who contributed to the championship’s success.

Among the other notable personalities present at IRSF National Rope Skipping Championship were Sh. Subhash Nair, Vice Chairman (IRSF), Dr. Shagufta Anjum, Director – Technical (IRSF), Mr. Tarun Tiwari, CEO (IRSF), and Mr. Devesh, Secretary General (IRSF) and Dr. Shikha Gupta Official Physiotherapist (IRSF).
The Chief Guest, Shri Shripad Yeso Naik, delivered an inspiring speech, emphasizing the value of rope skipping as a sport. “Rope skipping is an excellent sport,” he stated, “I believe it is on par with the best forms of exercise, including Yoga. We will provide our full support to the rope skipping sport wherever possible.”
The closing ceremony was graced by Mr. Manoj B. Sawaikar, Director of Bal Bhavan Goa and Deputy Director of Education.
A particularly encouraging moment for the development of rope skipping in Goa came with the presence of Mr. Arvind Khutkar, Director of Sports and Youth Affairs, Goa Government. Addressing the gathering, Mr. Khutkar announced the Sports Department’s decision to grant recognition to the Rope Skipping Association Goa. He further pledged the department’s commitment to actively promote and organize rope skipping events in the state on a regular basis.
