Rope Skipping Energizes Ongoing FIT INDIA Campaign with Expanding Participation

New Delhi, India – The Indian Rope Skipping Federation (IRSF) and the Sports Authority of India (SAI) are witnessing increasing momentum in their collaborative efforts to promote fitness through the FIT INDIA movement. The “Sundays on Cycle” campaign, which has already seen successful editions, is set to welcome a diverse range of participants in the coming weeks, further amplifying its reach and impact.

The “Sundays on Cycle” initiative, a key component of the nationwide FIT INDIA vision championed by the Honourable Prime Minister of India, encourages citizens to adopt a more active lifestyle, with cycling as a central activity. The integration of rope skipping into these events, spearheaded by the IRSF, has added a dynamic and engaging dimension to the campaign.

Since the collaboration’s inception on March 21, 2025, the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium in Delhi has transformed into a hub of fitness activity every Sunday morning. As cyclists gather for their rides, they are now greeted by the energetic displays of rope skipping, guided by certified IRSF coaches and skilled players.

The IRSF team conducts lively sessions, introducing participants to the fundamentals of rope skipping, showcasing advanced techniques, and leading group routines set to music. This fusion of fitness and entertainment has proven to be a powerful motivator, attracting individuals of all ages and abilities to participate with enthusiasm.

The campaign is now poised to expand even further, with several key groups set to join the movement in the coming weeks:

Dr. Shikha Gupta, the Director of the Indian Rope Skipping Federation, expressed her excitement about the growing participation, stating, “We are thrilled to see the ‘Sundays on Cycle’ campaign gaining such momentum. The addition of State Police forces, journalists, and our esteemed MPs and MLAs will undoubtedly inspire countless citizens to embrace a more active lifestyle. This collective effort underscores the importance of fitness as a national priority.”

The benefits of rope skipping, a high-impact, full-body workout that improves cardiovascular health, coordination, and agility, are being increasingly recognized by participants. The IRSF sees this collaboration as a vital opportunity to not only promote fitness but also to elevate the profile of rope skipping as a competitive sport, reaching a wider audience and attracting new talent.

The Sports Authority of India has also welcomed the expanding participation in the campaign. “The ‘Sundays on Cycle’ initiative is a testament to the power of collaboration,” says Mr. Sandeep Tandon, Deputy Director General of SAI. “The enthusiastic involvement of the Indian Rope Skipping Federation, coupled with the upcoming participation of State Police forces, journalists, and our elected representatives, will undoubtedly amplify the message of fitness and inspire millions across the nation.”

As the “Sundays on Cycle” campaign continues to gain momentum, with new groups joining the movement each week, the vision of a fitter and healthier India, championed by the Honourable Prime Minister, is steadily becoming a reality. The collaboration between the IRSF and SAI serves as a shining example of how sports and community engagement can drive positive change and inspire a nation to embrace a more active and fulfilling lifestyle.
