The 84th edition of Sundays on Cycle, featuring Rope Skipping Sundays, brought together students, educators, sports enthusiasts, and members of the community for a morning dedicated to fitness, participation, and active living.

Held on Sunday, August 2, 2026, at 6:00 AM at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, New Delhi, the event focused on the theme “Schools, Colleges & Universities”, highlighting the important role educational institutions can play in building healthier and more active communities.

84th Sundays on Cycle Focuses on Campus Fitness

The 84th edition of Sundays on Cycle was centred around creating a stronger culture of physical activity within educational institutions.

With schools, colleges, and universities at the heart of the event, participants were encouraged to come together through cycling and rope skipping. The initiative promoted the idea that fitness can become a shared experience involving students, teachers, friends, and families.

The event carried the message:

“Skip Together. Grow Together. Lead Together.”

This message reflects the focus on teamwork, personal development, and leadership through sport and physical activity.

Rope Skipping Sundays Joins the Movement

Alongside cycling, the event featured Rope Skipping Sundays, giving participants an opportunity to experience one of the most accessible and engaging forms of physical activity.

Rope skipping can be practiced by people of different experience levels and can help develop coordination, agility, rhythm, and endurance. Bringing rope skipping into Sundays on Cycle also helps introduce more people to the sport and its potential as both a recreational and competitive activity.

The participation of the Indian Rope Skipping Federation (IRSF) further strengthened the rope-skipping component of the event.

Building Healthier Educational Communities

The 84th edition placed a strong emphasis on the connection between education and physical activity.

Schools were represented with the message “Building Healthy Kids,” while colleges focused on “Creating Active Youth” and universities on “Empowering Future Leaders.”

Together, these messages highlight how physical activity can contribute to healthier and more engaged educational communities.

The event also promoted the broader message of:

“Stronger Together” and “Healthy India, Happy India.”

Rather than focusing solely on individual participation, the initiative encouraged people to become active together and create a stronger sense of community through sport.

IRSF’s Contribution to Rope Skipping in India

The Indian Rope Skipping Federation (IRSF) continues to contribute to the growth and development of rope skipping across India.

According to the federation, IRSF has a presence across 24+ States and Union Territories and serves as an official SAI–Fit India collaborator for Sundays on Cycle.

The federation also provides technical support for CBSE Rope Skipping Championships, supporting the development of rope skipping within India’s educational and sporting ecosystem.

IRSF is also internationally connected with organisations including WIRSO in Belgium and IRSO in the USA, helping strengthen the sport’s wider international connections.

Schools, Colleges and Universities at the Centre

The 84th edition demonstrated how educational institutions can become important platforms for promoting active lifestyles.

Students and young people were encouraged to participate alongside their peers, teachers, friends, and families. Activities such as cycling and rope skipping provide opportunities for participants to stay active while also building teamwork and community spirit.

The event’s central message — “A Movement for Every Campus. A Commitment to the Nation.” — reflects its goal of bringing fitness into everyday campus life.
